The Alabama Clay Conference will be in Birmingham again next year. For the first time, it will be in conjunction with a Clay Symposium being hosted by the Birmingham Museum of Art. The overall theme will be the body! (Which means figurative work! Yay!) The Museum will host speakers and the Conference will host artists. Not all of the presenters have been booked yet, but a few big names have already been confirmed: Garth Clark - an art dealer, critic, writer, and the foremost expert on American ceramics. Gerit Grimm - a ceramic figurative artist using the wheel. (Annnd…drumroll…) Beth Cavener Stichter - a ceramic figurative artist who employs solid building techniques.
